We purchased two of these mattresses to use in our travel van (a converted Promaster.) We have them on plywood bed platforms and laid 1 1/2″ foam pads underneath the mattresses for a little extra cushion.
The mattresses come tightly rolled in boxes. We laid them out in our home to decompress before putting them in the van, as it was winter, and the cold would have prevented them from expanding all the way. We let them expand for 48 hours prior to putting them in the van. They never expanded to the full 6 inches–but did expand to 5″, which was good enough for us.
I give them a grade of B for convenience. I wouldn’t expect an A for a mattress that’s only $70 anyway. Overall great.
We used normal twin bedding and simply tucked the surplus sheeting within the mattresses.
